Doctor Nelson Cushing's Antique Tool Collection

Dr. Nelson Cushing – A Brief Biography

Nelson Cushing grew up in North Troy, Vermont where his father worked in the local veneer mill, and where, as a teenager, Nelson cut pulpwood from the nearby forests. Gaining a love for woodworking from his father, Nelson spent many hours during his life building homes and boats, and crafting a large variety of smaller woodworking projects including home furnishings, lamps, sleds, benches, product display stands, toys and novelty items. In this process he developed a deep appreciation for the tools used and for their history.

Nelson's antique tool collection started with hand planes and expanded to include several other tool types. The tools date from the middle of the 1800’s to the 1950’s.
